Together Again – 6

This entry is part 3 of 3 in the series Together Again

So, free for all day and all I have is a very new Chapter Six of Together Again. This is not the last chapter; probably not even the next to last. But it’s all I’ve got by now. I’ve gone over it fairly often for something that was still being written this morning, and every time I find something – a typo, a missing word, a little teeny bit of inconsistency with what went before…. My feelings will not be hurt it you give me a poke about something. Chances are, the version that goes up on the archives, and after that, on my own website, will be in much better shape. But it is what it is. As I finish more chapters (probably no more than two, but who knows how the fight will go?), they’ll be available on my LJ under the tag for this story.

Together Again – 1 and 2

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Together Again

And I’m not quite failing miserably, although it might be close… My intended SS entry is five completed chapters in to a probably six or seven chapters. So, I’ll post what I have today (perhaps a couple of chapters now and more when I get to the land of broadband in a few hours) and hope to have those last chapters finished by the next/last free-for-all day. If that doesn’t happen, I’ll just post the link to my journal and website where those last chapters will be found when they’re completed.

To make up for it, I’ll post a link to my current wip, the theme of which really fits the theme this round as well as, if not better than, this one. Operating on the assumption that there are people reading here who may not be reading Spuffy anymore and won’t have seen it. It’s long, so no obligation to read it as a SS entry – just throwing it out there because so many people have contributed more than one, relatively short, unfinished fic. :)

So, here are the Prologue and Chapters One and Two of Together Again It takes place in some non-specific future well after the events of season eight comics and in no way related to them except for a couple of quick references to events there. I don’t think knowledge of that season is necessary as I’ve tried to provide enough information to explain the references without going into the whole plot arcs that led up to them.

If You Need a Job Done Right, Send a Slayer 5

This entry is part 5 of 5 in the series When You Need a Job Done Right, Send a Slayer

The last two chapters – These may or may not be how they look by the time I put it up elsewhere, but they are where I am right now. There were a few places I felt like it could have ended. This is not one of them. LOL But it will do for now. I suppose I should resolve things with Angel, I hate to leave him alone, but that would require more time than I have today. Let’s just assume he makes friends with Anteres or something…

Thanks again to Abelina whose extra eyes kept me from making any plot dimples into actual holes. :) Obviously, I’ve tweaked after she saw things, so….

(Chapter Eight is what earned it the strong R rating – FYI)

When You Need a Job Done Right, Send a Slayer – 1

This entry is part 1 of 5 in the series When You Need a Job Done Right, Send a Slayer

AKA as the day to post for dummies like me who had their posting date wrong… Moving along, and wishing all my fellow Americans a very happy ritual sacrifice with pie, here are seven chapters of my intended entry for this anniversary round at Seasonal Spuffy. I hope to have the last one or two chapters completed in time for the next free-for-all date. Still debating about the other fic (the one that ate my brain and made it harder to work on this one). I think I’m going to post it on the sb-ashtray, but we’ll see. I may make it a second offering here. Can’t decide…

Anyway, moving along, I’m posting this two chapters at a time to save my download allowance.

I can’t believe I posted all this and forgot to mention that abelina has taken time from her own writing to run an extra set of eyes over these chapters for me. Needless to say, she is not responsible for whatever tinkering I may have done to them after she saw them. Thanks, Abs! :)

Post NFA – Set very loosely in the LA of After the Fall comics. All you really need to know is that Angel and Spike survived the demon army the Senior Partners threw at them. When that didn’t work, the Sr. Partners encased the city of Los Angeles in a dimensional bubble, which allowed the demons to quickly take over the city. Humans are rapidly becoming an endangered species, although some of those unable to find hidden shelters are being kept as slaves before being killed. Angel and Spike work to save as many of them as they can. Because the comics at IDW wandered around a bit, I’ve decided not to worry about “canon”, it’s just too complicated. So, I’ve borrowed the setting and mention of a dragon, but that’s it. Don’t look for specific demon lords or events. This is my story set in that world.

The Gentleman Returns, Part 1

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series The Gentleman Returns

So, being without my laptop for almost three weeks meant I totally missed my posting day, in spite of the fic having been completed weeks ago. (note to self – sometimes it’s a good idea to store things in more than one place…) Thanks to gillo who so ably filled in for me that day. And extra thanks to abelina who not only was my extra set of eyes on this fic as I wrote it, but who stepped in to take over my assigned mod duties at Seasonal Spuffy this round.(Any typos on the fic are probably the result of my tinkering even as I’m posting and not a failure of Abelina’s eagle eyes.)

Anyway, it’s Free For All Day now and my fic is ready to go. I think I’ll post it in three separate posts as it’s a bit over 20,000 words and one or two probably isn’t going to do it. This fic is the fourth (and last) in a series that began with an old semi-pwp ficlet set during the Halloween episode in season 2, and continued in two other ficlets set in that same AU season 2 world. By the time the third fic ended, Spike and Buffy were realizing that their “truce” was a bit more than that. But, it was season 2, Spike was still in love with Dru and Buffy was still in love with Angel (although not real fond of Angelus…) and, yeah, a Spuffy relationship wasn’t an option. Not then, anyway. This longer fic takes place a year later.

Behind the cut are the first two chapters of The Gentleman Returns. The next two installments will go up as quickly as I can get to it.

The Unwilling Hero

Behind the cut you’ll find the first two chapters of my SS fic. (on account of, that’s all I have so far) It began as a short fic for a trope bingo prompt but I just couldn’t go there, and it grew, so forget TB, it’s SS time. :) Set in season 4, not long after the spell, but before things get too heavy with Riley, Adam, et all. Really just all about the Spuffy and only enough plot to make it happen. :)

Fic #2 – The Gentleman Takes His Leave

Here’s the second fic for today. It’s a follow up to
The Gentleman Wore Leather
(in which Ethan’s spell doesn’t break quite so soon and Spike has thrown helpless Buffy over his shoulder and run off. He seduces her into thinking they’re married and has sex with her before ripping her dress off and accidentally breaking the spell. After it has broken, in spite of Buffy’s dismay and anger, they finish what they were doing and she finds herself with a very unfamiliar and gentle vampire who refuses fit her vision of evil. He lets her have his coat so she can get home without putting the dress back on, and she leaves it on her roof for him. In the morning, the coat is gone and in its place is a single red rose.)

Warnings for references to non-con, underage sex and a non-happy Spuffy ending.

Try it, You’ll Like it!

After worrying I’d have nothing, I ended up with two short fics. One is one and done, the other could obviously have created an AU Sunnydale where it could be continued… Both somewhat use the theme of magic gone wrong; this one is actually based on a prompt from somewhere else – probably sb_fag_ends….

First up:

Try it, You’ll Like it!

Summary: Buffy has a problem. Can Spike help her work it out? Will it change their relationship at all?  Continue Reading

A Friend in Need – Chapters Six and Seven

This entry is part 3 of 3 in the series A Friend in Need

These may be the last chapters I put up here. Chapter Eight is completed and Ch. Nine as been started, but that’s about it, so not ready to put up. I’ll come back and provide links to the other chapters as I get them posted either here or on my own journals.

So, under the cut, Chapters Six and Seven in which things come out and Glory gets closer.

A Friend in Need – 1

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series A Friend in Need

Title: A Friend in Need
author: Slaymesoftly
Summary: A sequel to a short (6200+) off-canon Season Four fic – Even Demons Need Friends, but I don’t think you need to have read that STORY (although it’s kinda fun…). All you need to know is that this is a non-canon Season 5 in which Glory is there searching for her Key, Joyce is sick, Spike is unchipped and living in another city. At the end of the previous story, he’d asked Buffy to call him if she needed help.
They don’t have a relationship yet; they weren’t even much more than canon Season Four semi-enemies, with an unrecognized and unacknowledged sexual attraction, when Ethan’s spell to turn Giles into a Fyral demon wrought some important changes in a very short period of time. But not changes sufficient to make it likely that a slayer, with a human boyfriend and a firm belief in what’s right and acceptable, and an old vampire, who has just regained his ability to hunt and feed, are likely to see any kind of a future for them. In spite of some surprising revelations about how they may feel about each other.
You can assume that the rest of Season Four and some of Season Five have proceeded pretty much as in canon, but without Spike’s presence. That absence, and the reason for it, has changed things enough that I think it’s fair to call this an AU Season Five. Some things will be familiar, some things obviously will not, so don’t go looking for an identical timeline or identical events.

Always Knew I’d Go Down Fightin

So, my day! I’ve got two things: The first (below) is set in the verse I (unintentionally) started with Things That Go Bump in the Night. By now, in addition to that original long fic, there are lots of ficlets documenting Spike and Buffy’s early years together (thanks to Schmoop Bingo). All you really need to know about that verse, is that quite a few years after Chosen and NFA, Buffy found Spike again, and after the aforementioned long fic, Spike is now fully human but has the same slayer powers as Buffy. This ficlet is set many years in the future, when their family has grown and now includes grandchildren. The title is one of Spike’s lines from the show – he just had no idea how long it would be until it actually happened…

Title: “Always Knew I’d Go Down Fightin’”
Author: Slaymesoftly
Words: 2800+
Rating: PG13
Summary: Spike and Buffy wonder if they’ve become too old to be effective slayers. Turns out they get a chance to find out… (see above for backstory)
Disclaimer: Not my characters and no money is being made off them.
Thanks: to gillo who offered to look this over for me before it went up, and as always, improved it greatly. Any mistakes left are due to my tinkering and/or ignoring her good advice. ☺
